Frequently Asked Questions

While we have tried to make our website as comprehensive as possible, we understand that you may still have questions before you make your booking.

Our FAQ section covers all of the frequently asked questions from our visitors, so please feel free to go through the list to see if your answer is there. If not, please don't hesitate to call us on 01461 40232 or use the contact form on our contact page.

What time is check in?
Check in is from 3 pm to 10 pm. Please let us know in advance when you plan to arrive. There is only parking for one car.

What time is check out?
Check out time is 11 am.

What do we do about our keys?
 Keys are available from ourselves, Judith and Eric, on arrival, which is why we need to know when you are planning to get here.

What form of payment do you accept?
We accept bank transfer or credit card, payable seven days before your arrival. We ask for a one night deposit when booking.

Do you have a cancellation policy?
 Bookings can be cancelled free of charge until 14 days before arrival. You will be charged the total price if you cancel in the 14 days before arrival, unless we can rebook the dates in the meantime.

Can you provide information on meals?
We provide breakfast as part of your booking.  We do not provide evening meals, but for late arrivals a light snack can be made available at an extra charge.  A packed lunch can be provided at a cost if booked in advance.

Do you cater for vegetarians or those with dietary or allergy requirements?
We provide vegetarian, vegan and gluten free breakfast options.  When we confirm your booking, we ask if you have any allergies or dietary requirements, so we can make your stay with us as comfortable as possible.

Are there additional charges for children?  
The apartment sleeps two in the kingsize bedroom, with the option for an additional two children in the sofa bed in the sitting room.   Children under 3 are free, and there is an additional charge for over 3s of £20 per person per night.

Do you provide cots and high chairs?  
We have one travel cot and one high chair available at no additional charge.

Is there local public transport?
There is a railway station in Annan, 2 miles away and there is a bus stop at the end of the lane (half a mile walk) on the regular route between Dumfries and Carlisle.

What is your smoking policy?  
We are a non smoking and vaping venue, but you are welcome to smoke/vape in the garden.

Are dogs welcome?  
We are sorry but we do not accept dogs.

Do you have WiFi access?  
There is WiFi access throughout the property.

Can you recommend places to eat?  
There are a selection of places to eat in Annan, which is 2 miles away, as well as takeaways (some of whom also deliver).

Celebrating a special event?
If you are coming to celebrate a special event, and would like us to arrange a cake, champagne, bouquets or anything else on your behalf, so they are there for your arrival, please talk to us.

Where are the nearest supermarkets?  
Tesco and Aldi are in Annan, 2 miles away.

Do you provide laundry service?  
We can provide a laundry service at a small charge for walkers, cyclists and others who require it.  This must be booked in advance.  We will also accept advanced clothing parcels for walkers, by pre-arrangement.

Are cyclists welcome?
 We are just off national cycle route 7 and have storage for cycles. Our nearest cycle shop is Bikeseven at Longtown, about 9 miles away: bikeseven.co.uk. A chargeable laundry service is available.

Are walkers/hikers welcome
We welcome walkers and hikers and accept advance clothing parcels for walkers by prior arrangement and laundry service for a small charge

Can we play golf locally?
 We are fortunate to have one the most exciting golf courses in Dumfries and Galloway right on our doorstep, overlooking the Solway, at Powfoot. See www.powfootgolfclub.com  We are members of the Visit Scotland Golfers Welcome Scheme. 

Ancestral welcome scheme  
We support guests researching their family tree, much of which can now be done online see www.scotlandspeople.gov.uk or locally www.dgfhs.org.uk (Dumfries and Galloway Family History Society 01387 248093 or email researchcentre@dgfhs.org.uk). Annan Musuem and Dumfries & Galloway Council at the Town Hall hold the Calendar of Annandale Emigration from 1700 to 1890s, census registers, as well as graveyard books for Annan, Canonbie, Hoddom, Ruthwell and Cummertrees.
